Saint Guru Zhang

Guru Zhang was born in A.D. 34. When he was young, he passed imperial examination and was assigned as governor of Sichuan province. Several decades later he had aged, he retired and secluded himself in remote mountains to cultivate longevity. Though emperors of the coeval admired him and tried to recruit him as imperial guru. But he turned down their requests and fled away.

As legend said, in A.D. 142 Laozi made his presence to Guru Zhang and imparted the essence of Tao to him. Subsequently Guru Zhang originated the principles of Taoism. In A.D 156 he ascended to sky upon a call from celestial kingdom. Since then people esteemed him as great founder of Taoism.
